Let me start on a personal note: I am always very happy to welcome the expat community of Basel in my office as my "better half" herself originates from far far away:). If you have moved to Basel recently and have questions regarding the alignment of your teeth I will be happy to give you a free initial consultation (remind me during the first visit ;).
My aim as an orthodontist is to provide you with that confident, beautiful smile which nicely aligned teeth result in. In some cases we can also improve the funcionality of the occlusion and thus prevent for example early abrasion of teeth.
My personal experience in orthodontics dates back to 2003, when I started my orthodontic training at the University of Basel. Over the following ten years I graduated to be a specialist in orthodontics. I received two doctorate degrees in medicine and dental medicine as well as the honor of being elected as Privatdozent of the University of Basel and teacher of the year 2010.
The corrections of malpositioned teeth are normaly done with fixed braces. This is the fastest way and offers the greatest possible amount of control of the tooth movements. The treatment duration can vary greatly between 3 months for small corrections to 2 years. For the average patient one year is a good indicator (s. tables under Information).
Depending on the complexity of the treatment the costs will vary widely too. Mostly they are situated inbetween 3.000 and 12.000 CHF. Again for the average patient they might result at 8.000 CHF. Please check with your health care insurance for coverage of orthodontic treatments as these are sometimes included, sometimes excluded.
The office is conveniantly situated in the hear of Basel at Barfüsserplatz, Steinenberg 23. You can find a map for the exact location under "Kontakt/Lage".
